From 1996 to 2007 she was the European Commission’s Expert on Violence against Children, Young People and Women, and in 2007 was an advisor to the UN Secretary-General’s Study on Violence against Children.

In 2007 June was made a Member of the Order of Australia for her work in the international community.  She became an Australian and a Bombers supporter at the same time some 20 years ago.
